Congratulations to Mr. Neil Koziak on receiving the Kevin Carr Christian Leadership Award!
Mr. Koziak accepted the award on November 22, 2022, at a luncheon hosted at the Maria Goretti Centre.
The Kevin Carr Christian Leadership Award is named for the seventh president of Newman Theological College (1993-2001) who was the first layperson appointed to the position. The award recognizes individuals whose outstanding Christian Leadership reflects the values of Newman Theological College and the qualities that Kevin Carr cherished and exhibited in his work.
The recipient was introduced by Joyce Tutt who was one of three nominators for Mr. Koziak, along with Mr. Joseph Synyshyn and Most. Rev. Bishop David Motiuk of the Ukrainian Eparchy of Edmonton. During the reception, Tutt emphasized Mr. Koziak as a kind, compassionate, and humble leader who consistently puts the needs of others first.
Mr. Koziak is well known as a faith-filled leader, ardent volunteer, and philanthropist. He has served in numerous positions, including the Board of Friars, the Bishop Budka Charitable Society, the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada, the Ukrainian Language Arts Society, the Cultural Society of St. Basil's Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the St. Basil's Men's Club.
On behalf of Newman Theological College, President Dr. Jason West commended Mr. Koziak on his incredible Christian witness and his significant contributions to both the local and global community.
The Kevin Carr Christian Leadership Award was presented to Mr. Koziak by Chancellor, Hon. Mr. Justice Kevin Feehan. Mr. Koziak was congratulated by Most. Rev. Archbishop Richard Smith of the Archdiocese of Edmonton and many other honoured guests, friends, and family members.
