Tuition Deposit

For most new applicants, the non-refundable tuition deposit is required in order to accept the admission offer and become eligible to register in courses. The tuition deposit can be paid in the NTC application portal via credit card.

Tuition Deposit: $150.00

Note: Some types of applicants are exempt from having to accept their offer and/or pay the tuition deposit. See the list of exemptions:

All returning students must pay their non-refundable tuition deposit by 15th June of any given year to become eligible to register in courses. NB. Due to the launch of online registration and online payments for 2023/24, this deadline is exceptionally extended until the 14th August 2023 for returning students. Students who have their tuition and fees paid for by an approved third party such as a school district or diocese are exempt.

Maintaining Student Status Fees

MTH 900 MTH Continuing Registration/semester (fall and winter only)    $105.00

Assessed to M.Th. students who have completed all course requirements and paid their thesis fees, but who have yet to “pass” their thesis in any semester. Failure to maintain registration status in this way results in a lapse of registration and requires the student to apply for readmission.

MTS 904 MTS Continuing Registration/semester (Fall and Winter only)     $105.00

Assessed to M.T.S. students who have completed all course requirements and paid their thesis fees, but who have yet to “pass” their thesis in any semester. Failure to maintain registration status in this way results in a lapse of registration and requires the student to apply for readmission.

MRE 900 MRE Continuing Registration/semester (Fall and Winter only)     N/A

M.R.E. students who have completed all course requirements but who have yet to enrol for their Field Education in any semester. The Field Education Director must approve of any delay in enrolling and students must register for this course for any term they will not be registering in a section of REL 400. Failure to maintain registration status in this way results in a lapse of registration and requires the student to apply for readmission.

Readmission Fee     $525.00

For students who have withdrawn from the Dip.Th., B.Th., B.A. (CATH), M.T.S., M.Div., M.Th., or M.R.E. program or have let their registration lapse.

Payment Schedule

Payments for your courses can all be taken online in the Student Services portal by credit card. Select “What is the status of my account?” and go to the pay page. Students can pay their tuition deposit here or add money on account. If you need to use an alternative method of payment such as a cheque then please send that directly to our business office at:

If you need to make a payment by debit card then please visit our Reception Desk in Student Services on campus and ask to put a payment on your account.

Confirmation of Registration

• 15th August 2023- 6th September 2023 for Fall.
• 10th December 2023- 8th January 2024 for Winter.

Once registration is confirmed then all fees are due in full and non-refundable fees are final.

$25.00 is charged on all NSF cheques.

Tuition refunds: all refunds will be credited to the student account unless a Request for Refund Form is submitted.

Outstanding Accounts

Outstanding fees in the library, bookstore or registration office will result in the student’s grades being withheld until the account has been paid in full.

International Student Tuition And Fees Repayment Note

International students must pay the Application Fee when they apply. International students who are not third-party funded (such as by a diocese etc.) must make a formal payment plan so that 50% of the tuition and fees are paid no later than the withdrawal date each semester.  Students having outstanding fees will have their grades withheld until fees are paid in full.

Outstanding Accounts

Outstanding fees in the library, bookstore or registration office will result in the student’s grades being withheld until the account has been paid in full.

Bursaries & Scholarships

Newman Theological College Bursaries

Newman Theological College offers bursaries and scholarships to full-time, part-time, new and continuing students enrolled in NTC programs and courses.  

NTC bursaries and scholarships are awarded for tuition only on the basis of the following criteria: financial need, involvement in the NTC community (current students) and involvement in the Christian community (new and continuing students), qualities of leadership, and academic performance. Bursary and scholarship Application Forms are available in April of the current academic year on the Forms and Documents page or from the Student Services area on the NTC campus. Applications must be submitted by June 1st for the upcoming academic year to the Dean of Students. In June the Financial Assistance Committee reviews all completed applications and determines the amount of funds to be distributed. Late applicants are to contact the Dean of Students for more information about bursaries or scholarships that may still be available after the initial distribution in June.

NTC reserves the right to publish the names of all award recipients.

Bursaries for 2023-2024

Newman Theological College offers bursaries to new and continuing students enrolled in degree programs. Newman Theological College bursaries are awarded (for tuition only) on the basis of the following four criteria:

  • Financial need
  • Involvement in NTC community (current students)
  • Involvement in the Christian community
  • Qualities of leadership
  • Academic performance

Financial Aid

Student Aid Resources

No student should be deterred from attending NTC for lack of financial resources. The federal and provincial governments offer lending programs and students are encouraged to access these funds. Most NTC programs are recognized and registered with Alberta Student Loans and Canada Student Loans. When an applicant for NTC has been accepted for enrollment, an application for financial assistance may be submitted to the appropriate authorities in the province of residence. Loan application packages for Alberta students are available from the Registrar’s Office. Please speak with the Registrar for assistance or enquiries regarding Student Loan applications.

Living Expenses

Rent and Utilities (based on single occupancy): $900.00 - $1200.00 per month

Food: $600.00 per month

Miscellaneous: (toiletries, laundry, entertainment) $300.00 per month. Warm clothing is essential in the winter. Coats, sweaters, hats, mitts, and boots could cost you approximately $650.00.

Monthly Bus Pass: $85.00 per month

Newman Theological College does not have a residence for lay students.
