Newman Golf Classic

Newman Golf Classic: fundraising challenge!

Due to the Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer guidance on how to slow and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 we had to cancel the Newman Golf Classic for this year. We are now however, very excited to share with you a new outstanding development!

We recently received a very generous proposal from one of the Foundation’s long-time Benefactors, who wishes to remain anonymous. This Benefactor has offered a $50,000 matching gift to the Foundation. He is challenging all Newman Golf Classic supporters to continue their support this year even though we cannot run the golf tournament.

The Newman Golf Classic has always been the Foundation’s biggest fundraising event to support the work of Newman Theological College and St. Joseph Seminary. Despite the pandemic, our expenses continue and not hosting the tournament will greatly impact our bottom line. Our generous Benefactor whole-heartily believes and trusts in the generosity of the Catholic community and is calling us all to action.

We know these are very difficult times for many and wish to be sensitive. If you are not in the position to give, we understand and wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for your past support. If you are able to give, please consider donating your registration to the Newman Golf Classic 2020 for a full charitable tax receipt. Remember your donation will be doubled with the matching gift if we achieve the goal of $50,000!

We appreciate your kind consideration of this request and look forward to hearing back from you. If you have any questions or wish to discuss possible ways of supporting this challenge, please contact Anna Jaremko, or 780-952-6437.

We pray you stay healthy and connected. Thank you for your faithful and dedicated support of this event!

Thank you for supporting theological education!

Thank You to our golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers who contributed to the success of the 2019 Newman Golf Classic. Thanks to your support we raised an amazing $165,000!

Each year the tournament’s proceeds go to St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College to enable them to continue their mission to educate, train and form priests and lay leaders such as parish pastoral assistants, chaplains and Catholic teachers. Unlike other post-secondary institutions, they receive no government funding. They rely on the Foundation and the incredible generosity of the many sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers who support us.
